Spring 2010 Update

As the Season is starting to take off (hopefully with glorious sunshine!) The Park is bursting back to life again, with lots to see & do.  The Bluebells are an unrivaled sight and a must to see.

The area known as the bowling green, down behind the Palace is undergoing a real clearance just now.  We are trying to re-create the 19th century landscaping.  It looks a bit of a bomb site at the moment,  but in the long run it will benefit lots of insects and wildlife.

The Deer and their young are prevalent in the woods at this time of year, so great care must be taken to keep dogs on leads and under control, as the calves are immobile in the long grass while mother forages in other parts of the woodland.  If you find a calf - Please leave it alone.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome visitors, old, and new, to the Estate and hope you have a wonderful time whilst visiting this unique part of Midlothian.
