Early Spring Update 2012

At least we did not have any snow!!!  after an extremely wet & windy winter, signs of spring are upon us. the Snowdrops in the Estate are like little blankets of snow on the woodland carpet.  We have had some storm damage to a large numberof our trees, some of which dropped like dominoes and the Foresters are working hard to clear all the tracks in the Estate.

For those interested in the bird life, Nuthatches can be seen all over the Estate.  Since colonising the area in the last few years they seem to have the right habitat on the Estate to now breed succesfully. Great spotted woodpeckers can now be heard drumming as they search for territories and mate for the breeding season.

We have a fantastic Easter Fair planned for the Weekend of Easter - Sat 7th & Sun 8th of April.  More information on this can be found on the Events Country Fair page. This is a very exciting event for Dalkeith Estate and we look forward to seeing you all there.
